skin irratations and itchy ears from powerbeats pro wireless

Recently purchased power beats pro wireless and from the moment I started using them.I noticed itching in my inner ear, and where the hooks sit on the top of your ear.My right ear also has some drainage from the inner ear. How many others have this same experience.I’ve read on other websites that quite a few people are also experiencing the same problem and if Apple is going to back there product?

Met0012, I bought some Comply foam ear tips. The ones I got were the Comfort 400 assorted sizes pack.

They worked fine, but unfortunately I didn't get to give them a really good tryout along with my whole ear covers — yup, I'm the "genius" :) — before I had to send the PBPs back to Apple. If the only reaction you get from the PBPs is inside your ear canals, then maybe different ear tips like the ones from Comply will solve the problem for you. For me the skin reaction was everywhere the PBPs touched my skin, so that's why I decided to try the now-defunct covers idea. Oh well... There are, of course, wireless earphones with ear hooks made by other manufacturers and I might give some of them a try, but again, what I really want is some PBPs that don't drive my ears crazy!

I have a similar problem with my PBP's to the point that I cannot use them anymore. I have subscribed to this forum hoping that Apple will provide a solution to this problem. These are not cheap products that I could just discard and Apple should make good on their warranty and provide a solution or replacement for the benefit if its many customer. I have been a user of Apple products for close to 30 years (since Apple II, etc). They have always been tops on quality. I don't know why they have dropped the ball with this product.

I’ve previously posted on this thread and now have an update. I contacted Apple on the 21st May. Initially they seemed very helpful but I had to make lots of calls to chase and spoke to about 6 different agents. Long story short I had to send pictures of my ears and of the PowerBeats. I then had to return them to Apple. I’ve just had a call to say that Apple will be issuing me with a refund on receipt of proof of purchase.

Well Folks, it seems that we're running out of steam on this issue. Fewer people are posting their experiences here, and it looks like we'll never hear from Apple about what the problem is with the PBPs and all the itchiness etc. I guess most sufferers have moved on and found other head/earphones to suit their needs. I'm about to take delivery of a fifth pair of earphones (all from different manufacturers) and I think this latest one might just do the trick for me. It's really too bad that Apple wasn't more forthcoming about the problem, but I guess when a company gets to be so huuuuge, it doesn't feel obliged to be upfront with customers anymore. I've been a loyal Apple guy since 1992, but things have changed over the subsequent decades, and I don't feel as connected to the company as I used to. Disappointing, but that's the way the world seems to be going these days. Good luck everyone!

Well to all, I’ve got the same problem with my earplugs. I’ve had mine for over a year but just the pass 4-5 months my ears are getting iterated with the same symptoms as everyone else. My face swole up this last time so I’m going to the Dr. It took a minute for me to realize it is the earplugs. But I notice it only happens when they are worn. What a waste of money if they can’t be worn.

I bought these on August 19, 2019. I called Apple about them irritating my ears and the drainage it was causing. They suggested I bring them back to Best Buy where I purchased them. Outside of my return date, Best Buy suggested I take them to Apple. The run around begins. I gave up switched to different ear buds and my $249 PBP sat in my nightstand draw, used only 3 times, basically brand new. Im glad more people joined this topic of conversation, I thought I was alone for a long time and it was just me. I am supposed to get a call from the safety team at Apple, hopefully a good resolution comes about and I can update this.

Folks, having given up on Apple ever either explaining the problem to us or (even better) coming up with a non-irritating new version of the PBPs, I have had to look around for a good alternative to the PBPs and have found the Bose Sport Open Earbuds. They have ear hooks but nothing goes into the ear canals, and there is absolutely no skin irritation from any part of the earbuds. Their tiny speakers sit just above the ear canal openings without touching anything, and the sound quality is excellent. I'm very pleased with them, but I'm still extremely disappointed that Apple has yet to deal with the PBP issue. If it had, there would be no complaints about the PBPs, they would still be selling well and we would all be happy customers. Instead... Well, I'll leave it at that.
