skin irratations and itchy ears from powerbeats pro wireless

Recently purchased power beats pro wireless and from the moment I started using them.I noticed itching in my inner ear, and where the hooks sit on the top of your ear.My right ear also has some drainage from the inner ear. How many others have this same experience.I’ve read on other websites that quite a few people are also experiencing the same problem and if Apple is going to back there product?

Met0012, I bought some Comply foam ear tips. The ones I got were the Comfort 400 assorted sizes pack.

They worked fine, but unfortunately I didn't get to give them a really good tryout along with my whole ear covers — yup, I'm the "genius" :) — before I had to send the PBPs back to Apple. If the only reaction you get from the PBPs is inside your ear canals, then maybe different ear tips like the ones from Comply will solve the problem for you. For me the skin reaction was everywhere the PBPs touched my skin, so that's why I decided to try the now-defunct covers idea. Oh well... There are, of course, wireless earphones with ear hooks made by other manufacturers and I might give some of them a try, but again, what I really want is some PBPs that don't drive my ears crazy!

Well the 3rd party (which was through Google shopping) told me I'd have to contact the manufacturer, which is Apple. Soooo I'm back on hold with Apple to see what they say about that. Both times today that I was talking to someone from Apple they said it's a safety issue, and both times they seemed pretty understanding and willing to give me a refund (despite the resulting runaround). At this point I don't even mind if they just give me credit or something, but we shall see.

I bought the Powerbeats for running and working out. Right after I bought them I took them on a trip. I wore them during a trail run and afterwards my ear canals itches badly. Chalked it up to a flight. Once my ears cleared I wore them again on a trail run and the same issue.. Ears draining clear liquid and scabbing. I chalked that up to not waiting long enough. Once my ears cleared up I wore them on an hour walk. Next day the problem was back. I ordered a replacement set of memory foam ear buds to see if it’s the silicone tips.. My ears are still healing. I spent a lot of money on these and I will take them back to apple if it happens again.

When my same experience occurred, it took approximately 2 weeks for all symptoms to resolve. I wore them again for approximately 45min while washing my vehicle. Unfortunately, this problem returned and appeared to be worse than the initial experience inner ear itched very bad, draining and skin was inflamed. It’s now getting better each day. I will not be using these Power Beats again. Great sound but not worth potentially long term ear damage.

I have had the same problem for 6 months and couldn't figure out what was happening. My wife suggested it might be the earphones so I stopped using them. Low and behold the problem went away. Started using them again a few weeks later and the itching turned into drainage, flaking, and finally an earache. Called Apple and they acted like they had never heard of such a thing. They created a case, had me submit photos and said they would get back to me within four hours. I'm still waiting.

I have the white ones and have had all of the same problems as everyone else. I have had numerous calls with Apple and they’ve decided that they now want to “capture” the device. So they transfer me to another dept where that person says they need the proof of purchase. Now I have to try and track that down as it was a Christmas gift. It’s a long process, but Apple needs to do the right thing with this product.

JahDave, I got the same "never heard of that problem before" response from the Apple advisor I first contacted a few months ago. I suppose it might have been true then, but I find it hard to believe that Apple advisors would not have heard of the problem by now. I know Apple is a big company, but surely by this time the problem has been flagged internally and should be common knowledge among advisors. Even though my experience with all the advisors I have dealt with has been very good, my cynical side tells me that advisors are instructed to give the "never heard of it" response to whatever the problem is, and if that is true, it does damage to Apple's reputation. I've been a loyal Apple customer since 1992 and I expect the company to be honest and straightforward with me and everybody else, and take full responsibility for its products. But don't get me started! :)

Add me to list I got the white ones in June after losing my black ones. I never had issue with black ones. White ones have caused irritation behind ears where hooks touch, blisters, and drainage. Additionally I get irritation inside also my ears, drainage and scabbing. Luckily I bought them from amazon and they are refunding me. However I loved the design and wished they would work. Not sure what to get now?

I also purchased the PowerBeats Pro and love them. They are by far, the best ear buds I have ever owned. They fit and sound great! The only issue is, I get this TERRIBLE rash behind my ears and in the ear canal. Clear fluid is excreted and the sore do bleed then scab over. Absolutely unacceptable, especially for the price.

What is funny here, is I had a pair of Navy blue ones that I got for Christmas 2019. Loved them and never had any allergic reaction issues. Unfortunately I lost them in June and got the Ivory ones as a replacement. That is when I immediately starting having the allergic reaction. Not sure if its just color, never mfg process for beats. I love the beats and want another pair, but not sure I want to go through this again. Lots of unanswered questions

Is it the color?

New MFG process?

Did I suddenly develop allergy to silicone?

MY wife has green ones which she also got a xmas time and has no issues

Well if nothing else, at least I don't feel crazy any more....I have been experiencing these same exact issues. AND as many others have said, I used my beats for months before the issue developed. The irritation was the worst when I wore them on a plane (just a quick one hour flight). My ears were literally dripping all day long. I had to stand under the shower for at least 5 min just to get all of dried liquid off my ears and out of my hair.

I am working from home currently and would LOVE to use my beats again. I have tried cleaning them, putting vaseline on my ears before using them, and only using them for short periods of time, but nothing seems to help.

I hadn't called Apple because I thought it was just me but now I know that isn't the case. Even if I don't get a refund I will at least call them to add to the list of people with this issue.

I also am willing to provide any feedback if anyone gets someone on the phone willing to listen to all of us with this issue!

We keep on getting the "we want to make sure you reach the right team" message above from an Apple Community Specialist (this time "rose—10") telling folks to get in touch with Apple Support, but the "Get Support" link just goes to a general support webpage. I think what is really needed is a dedicated link to a webpage that deals solely with the PowerBeats Pro ear problem so that people don't have to waste time going through a whole bunch of different Apple personnel before getting to someone who can deal with each person's case quickly and efficiently. And if any Apple advisors are still saying that they haven't heard of the problem before, that would deal a real blow to the company's credibility.

I will once my ears clear up.

I called Apple yesterday to report problem (I am getting refund from Amazon) They took information, connected me to a safety rep. He took my information, requested pictures of my ears and of headphone. He called me back today and asked specific questions from there engineers. Seemed like same question asked in different ways. When did it happen, how long after wearing them did irritation happen, how long for irritation to go away, have you worn them again, etc. They generally do seem concerned and are investigating
