iPhone 11 Speakers vs. water

So I've gotten into the habit of using my iPhone 11 while showering. It does pretty well: I've never noticed any water damage whatsoever. The only thing I'm concerned about is the speakers. They sound muffled right after when I come out of the shower, but then they slowly return to normal. My question is: Will this continuous exposure to water cause any long-term damage to my speakers, or is it just a temporary thing until all the water dries out?
