Can't Enable AirPlay in System Preferences

I recently updated the Mac OS on my MacBook Air to Catalina and the AirPlay display disappeared. When I went into System Preferences > Displays and looked for the AirPlay option on the pop-up window, this is all I get:

It is impossible to select "On". Can someone help me?

Are there any AirPlay-eligible devices active on your current network at the time you look?

The alternative for "Off" in that menu is not "On"; rather it is the list of devices currently in range.
