Disable automatic layout functionality in Pages

In Pages, when I hit 'enter' after a line that starts with a dash (- Like this), it will automatically generate another dash on the second line. Even when in Preferences/Auto-correction/Formatting the option 'Use smart quotes and dashes' is disabled. How can I disable this very annoying automatic layout functionality?

It is automatically detecting lists, and you can disable that in Pages Preferences : Auto-Correction : [ ] Automatically detect lists. It has nothing to do with whether Smart Quotes or Dashes is selected.
