playersetup.dmg

I was downloading Minecraft Forge for the first time and clicked on the wrong thing something was added to my downloads, "playersetup.dmg", I stupidly dowloaded it, it claimed to be flash player, which should have been a red flag because I was dowloading Forge not a flash player, but I assumed they were connected so I put in my password to give it access in my computer. I realized it was malware when random tabs started to open in my safari browser. I've checked applications, nothing suspicious, I've checked safari extensions, nothing suspicious, I checked for foreign profiles on my system preferences and nothing.. I even ran first aid on all of my disk. I fear I've tried everything and my Macs permanently damaged, anyone know something else I could try.

Background:

You may  have adware/malware installed. Try downloading this program which was written by Thomas R, a long time poster. The program will search for malware/adware. The program will do the work for you which makes it easy. It may be necessary to run more than one scan. After running the scans, restart the computer.
