How to check if a product is stolen

I am looking to buy a phone and AirPods on online but am concerned that it is fake. How can I authenticate that the product is real?

See if your device has been activated elsewhere? Some one has stolen my airpods and factory reset them so they don't show up in find my iPhone anymore. I have the serial number, Apple and Amazon reciepts showing I am the legitimate owner. Can Apple look up my serial number and see if they have been added to someone else's account?

I bought my AirPods Pro form someone what was selling them and said it was from Apple how can I verify if they’re true and real I bought AirPods Pro from someone that sells some and they were brand new in a box.. how can I know that they are new and that they are really from apple store not fake ones

Your article is woefully out of date (May 2016) and no longer works, Apple stopped that service some time back.
