brand new MacBook air says battery needs to be replaced and fan running high? help!

I purchased my new MacBook Air today and it’s saying the battery needs to be replaced? Fan is running on high and system is really lagging too. Any thoughts? I haven’t even been able to set it up yet ☹️

Return it and get another one.
