Why has my free 1 year Apple TV subscription suddenly stopped after 2 months?

Does anyone know why my free 1 year Apple TV subscription has stopped and I'm now being offered the 1 week free trial and if there's anything I can do about it?

I had stated those directly from the terms, which I will paste for you below. The service launched Nov 1 so the term for claim would still be valid, however you had already used the service for free as part of your student plan, which would officially disqualify you from claiming this offer. You are free to contact Apple support, but it would be completely within their discretion as to whether an exception is granted. Similar situations, for those that had subscribed and then purchased a device, had most turned away due to those terms.

  • Offer cannot be combined with other free trials or offers for Apple TV+.

Thanks, Vizandrew. I have checked my subscriptions and there is no mention of ever having a subscription to Apple TV+. I registered my new device (iPhone) in late October and started watching Apple TV+ when it launched. I did nothing other than click on the desktop icon when I was made aware of it through an email or other advertising which makes me wonder if I even registered for the service in the first place. I've definitely not cancelled a subscription. The only change that has occurred simultaneously on my account is being automatically moved from the student to standard Apple Music subscription because I didn't verify my status in time. I have only used the app on my Mac despite my phone being the new device, could this have affected the 3 month registration period?

Apple TV Plus does come for free for those on a student Apple Music plan, which is separate from the 12 month offer. That is what you were accessing, and since you have now been moved to a standard plan you no longer have access to that.

In order to claim the offer you would have to setup your new device (iPhone) and subscribe to Apple TV Plus on that device, which then comes with 12 months free instead of the standard trial. You can then access the service on other devices, but the initial claim needs to be done on the qualifying device. The offer is also only valid for 3 months from purchase date. As per the terms you cannot combine it with another trial or offer so you may no longer qualify and/or have exceeded the time period.
