Rich.. my oops. Inadvertently pressed one of those hidden icons, or some such, which removed the transitions from that point tot he end of the movie. When editing again, pushed it, and all transitions restored. It all happened so fast I cannot recall the icon or location on the desk top.

I am not a great computer user, I guess. But, bumbling through IOS keeps me going with a good measure of success at what I want to achieve. thanks for your help. have filed your info away in case of future goofs that are not solved by button pushing.

Possibly it is a corrupt preference causing iMovie to misbehave and not load transitions. Try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if the transitions will load.

Also, it is possible that the problem is confined to just this one project. Try creating a new project and then, in the old project, do an Edit/Select All, Edit/Copy, of your media in the project and then Edit/Paste it into the new project. See if that resolves the issue.
