Mac to Windows 10 over network

I have been trying to get my new Macbook to be able to see my Windows desktop over my network at home to be able to share files etc. I have done this between Windows machines pretty easily. I get the Mac to see the Windows machine but cannot get them to connect. No meaningful message or information to further troubleshoot. Although I have had many Apple devices over the years I am new to the MAC, love it so far. There has to be a simple way to do this that cannot seem to find. Thanks

The output from that command is - kevins-MacBook-Pro:~ kevinmo $ nothing else

That would indicate that you were not able to mount the Windows' share to your Mac's Desktop.

Try the following from the Mac:

  1. Open a Finder window.
  2. From the Finder menu bar, choose Go > Connect to Server
  3. At the prompt, enter: smb://<the IP address of the PC>/<the file sharename>
  4. If you set up the share to use credential, enter them when prompted.
  5. A folder should appear on your Desktop.

Did the folder appear, or did you get an error message?
