my air pods when they are full volume it only sounds like half

when using my airpods i have the volume up all the way but can only beryl hear them, yet every one around me can here it. I have had them a little over a year and have already tried cleaning them nothing seems to work. i worked hard to get them and i am not ready to throw them away please help!!!!
