Menus in Music iOS 13.3

Since I installed iOS 13.3 on my Apple devices, I have the common problem of software trying to "help" me, and I wonder how to make it stop.

I used to be able to listen to one song, navigate to another one, tap that song, and have it start playing immediately.

Now tapping a song in the Music app brings up a menu with a bunch of options, like playing the song next, adding to a playlist, etc. I don't want to do any of that stuff. I just want the darn song to play!

How do I disable or bypass these menus so that I can play music when I want to?

Sounds like you might be pressing too hard.

If you "tap" on the song it should play as you'd expect. If you tap and hold or "press hard" then the menu you are describing pops up.

So try tapping lightly and see if you have better luck.

This doesn't work, because if a song has already been playing, just tapping still brings up the menu, and there seems to be no way to stop the song that's supposedly up. It I've tried swiping the song down and sideways, I've brought it up full screen to see if there's a way to stop it, but I haven't found anything.

So whether I tap quickly and softly or press, I still get the same menu, and I am given no choice but to place it into a queue, rather than playing it right away.
