Hi folks, so for the last few weeks, my Notes have been disappearing from my iPhone. It began happening with my iPhone 3G, and now happens with my iPhone 4. I am truly puzzled by why this is happening. I use the Notes app to store certain info. & it would be great if they didn't delete themselves. I also notice that since this started happening, I've been getting every Note I create in my email, seemingly after it deletes itself from my phone. I'm sure this will be something very stupid that I'm missing, but is there a setting I accidentally turned on or something? Or is this an actual bug? Thanks guys 🙂
For anyone trying to find the notes that were deleted from your phone I was finally able to find mine by going to your e-mail app. Select the e-mail you have as your main e-mail and instead of going to your inbox, go to notes. It turns out they are saving themselves there automatically. I'm guessing this happens as soon as they are about to delete because my most recent info. Is still on there. I hope this helps everyone! I was so happy to see my deleted notes there because I too have very important information saved in my notes. I'm also turning off the notes download to iCloud but it's really not a good idea if you're like me and you loose/brake your phone pretty often and you never saved the info. Anywhere else. There's no way of getting it back through iCloud when you get a new phone.
That was a good idea and some of my notes were there in Yahoo, but my main mail is Windstream and there was not an option for Notes. I can't even seem to retrieve my notes when they are backed up on my computer.
I am also having problem with disappearing notes. I have been keeping a noise log of my very noisy neighbour for the last two years and now all my evidence is gone. Is there any way of getting it back?
I have tried checking in my e-mail which is Yahoo but there does not seem to be anything to do with notes.
I see you call this a "temporary" fix. Does not this solution mean that one will not be backing up one's notes any longer, so they'll be gone if a better fix is not found before one needs to replace one's phone?
Thank you! Finally a way to get the notes I thought I lost!
OK - Well, I think I just totally screwed it up. I was having the same problem, so I follwed the advice and turned off the notes in my email. Now I have an even bigger problem... the few remaining notes that WERE there disappeared after I turned notes off in my email setting.
HELP! I was previously losing all NEW notes... now they're all gone 😟
Very frustrating that Apple hasn't fixed this problem in the last three years. I just watched all my notes clear themselves from my phone before my eyes. I had a lot of information on there that can't be replaced. Yet another useless icon on my phone now because I'm going to go download a note taking app and never touch Notes again. Maybe I can get rid of Notes somehow.
The notes folder did not show up under my mail app. But, it did show up on my Yahoo account via my MacBook. At least I now know where my "missing" stuff went and/or goes.
I really hope Apple will fix this and allow us to choose what we move our Notes to Yahoo and what we keep in our Notes app.
I still have none of my previous notes, but I found a GREAT workaround -
I stopped using notes and started putting my notes in an email, mailing them to myself, and then saving them on my hard drive.
What appears to be the absolute simplist of applications is jacked up. In today's world of productivity, Apple surely made this a nightmare.
