Never noticed these icons before on my iMac.
They appear in the lower right of my desktop(s).
If I control click on them I see a few choices.
Are these normal?
Did I turn something on inadvertently to make them appear.
Can I disable them if I want??
Like I said, I can't ever remember seeing them until today or so.

Your images show no icons, but instead an identifier that appears to be part of the desktop image – wallpaperswide.com.
The choices you see there when you control-click the desktop are normal, everyday options. The same options will pop open when you click anywhere on the desktop.
I'm not sure of what you are identifying as "icons," but the lower right-hand corner is displaying a watermark from WALLPAPERSWIDE.COM, which indicates that you set one of their photos as your Desktop Picture.
The control click options will appear wherever you control/click, or right click on your Desktop.
I think you are just seeing something normally hidden by the dock. That contextual menu is the normal one you see if you control-click anywhere on the desktop.

You are correct. I used a "cat" image today as the desktop image and I just opened up the image by itself and there it was.
Seemed like a weird span of icons or whatever so it did make me nervous when it was there today all of a sudden.
