Connectwise Control - spyware?

Just had an SSD installed in my old iMac by a small local company. I get it home and on booting up I notice there's a new item in the menu bar: "Connectwise Control". Obviously I've googled it and it seems to me that it allows a third party to monitor my usage. I don't like to think the worst of people but I'm a bit annoyed that A. it's there at all, and B. that they chose not to mention it. I found the Connectwise app inside an invisible folder and so have moved that to the trash after re-booting in safe mode. After further googling it seems uninstalling it involves using the Terminal, which I'm not comfortable with. Yes, I know I could have complained, but I don't want them to know I'm onto them, yet. Am I being paranoid? And does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can totally expunge this from my machine? Might they have installed other stuff I haven't found?

iMac 27", macOS 10.13

Where was the invisible folder located?

If you have a Time Machine backup or other full backup made just prior to the installation of the SSD you can boot into the Recovery volume, erase the hard drive and reinstall the system. Then use migration assistant to bring over your data files and apps from the Application folder.
