problems updating apps

out of the blue, i have started getting an error when trying to update apps. Issue only affects some apps. Started yesterday with linkedin, today another app gives the same error. the error is:

"cannot update app...App cannot be updated because it was refunded or purchased with a different Apple ID"

I have not purchased any new apps for months. I have NEVER requested nor received a refund for an app...and I have only one apple ID. I have not changed any settings either. What do I do?

iPhone 6, iOS 12

I did this for one app (Tune In) that I could live without if it didn’t work, and it did.

I suppose because they are free apps, they can’t block you from “repurchasing” them?

I need time to do the others, but I have more confidence now.

I wonder why the system thinks we used a different AppleID?

I'm getting the same errors. I'm trying to update the Apps on my iPhone but getting the following message for each: "… cannot be updated because it was refunded or purchased with a different Apple ID." I have IOS 12.4.5. all was well until the last update.

Apple must have changed something in the OS that created this problem. I'll try to delete and reload the Apps, but this is a slow and tedious process. Apple should fix this. I have an Apple 6 Plus.

I have this same problem, and the affected apps are ones I most rely on.

If there is a true error and I try to delete and reinstall, I’m afraid I will be locked out of the free apps that I truly need. (I’ve never ever requested an app refund, and I only have the one Apple ID )

This seems to have become an issue after I updated to iOS 12.4.4, seemingly the last available update for my iPhone 6.

OneNote, Evernote and Waze are apps that I can’t do without.

It seems this is only happening to my most important apps

Mine is an iPhone 6 on 12.4.4

It happened when I updated to this, I think from 12.4.3

I did manage to uninstall and reinstall everything except WhatApp, which I heavily depend on.

I can’t find the password anywhere, and I keep a lot of media there, instead of using up my phone memory...

I have it backing up now, just in case, but that won’t do me any good if I’m locked out of my account for lack of the password.

It was a very frustrating process signing back in to everything and setting up each of 9 apps all over again.

I cringe every time I see a new update badge 😖
