WiFi calling on my iPhone 6 with iOS 12.4.4

I have WiFi calling enabled. At home I get vary little cellular coverage

yet when I try to make a call, the phone tries to use the cellular

instead of my wifi which fails due to the connectivity. I have to turn

the cellular option off to make a wifi call.

That usually means that your Wi-Fi does not have enough bandwidth for a call. Go to Settings/Cellular, scroll to the bottom and turn off Wi-Fi assist.
