I have an iPhone 5c and recently acquired an iPhone 5s which is a quantum leap for me and I need to transfer my data/settings from the old phone to the new phone. I'm not a heavy user and my main concern are my contacts. I do have the latest backup on itunes but there seems to be no option avilable when I plug in the iphone 5s to transfer the data.

Well, my new-to-me phone has a new sim/different carrier and has not been activated yet. So this throws a wrinkle into the process.
I'll probably just have to copy the directory over to the new phone rather than jump through a 1001 hoops... I have no other data of importance as all my photos are downloaded to the Mac Mini already...
When you set up and activate the new iPhone (you are seeing the Hello screen) one of the options will be to setup your iPhone from your backup.
