iMessage unable to send attachments (pics, vids, documents, etc)

Since high Sierra, I have been unable to send attachments via iMessage on my MAC. I have 2 Macbook Airs and 1 Macbook pro. All of them have the same issue. In order for me to send something other than typing a text message, I have to airdrop it to one of my iPhone or my iPad and then send it from there. When I send an attachment from any of my Macs, the receiving end just gets a 0byte file. It never completes. However the Mac iMessage shows that it delivered it. I have both Airs on High Sierra and the Macbook pro on Mojave.

This all started when I upgraded my Macbook Airs to High Sierra from Mavricks.

Anyone have a clue on how to resolve this issue?

I'd like to learn more about how you are using Messages on your Mac: Use Messages with your Mac - Apple Support, and ask a few questions to gain more information.

-What type of files are you attempting to send via Messages on your Mac? Are there certain files that do delivery properly, while others do not? Are the files saved on an external hard drive, or locally to your Mac?

-What size are the files you are attempting to send? Do all file sizes fail to send properly?

-If you were to attempt to send yourself the same content via Messages on Mac, do you receive the content without issue?

I would like you to run through the steps under the section titled, 'Try these steps first', in this article: If you can’t send or receive messages on your Mac - Apple Support. Try connecting your Mac to a different network as well to test. I would also have you consider signing out of Messages, and then back in, to test again: Messages > Preferences > iMessage tab > Sign Out.
