I can mirror my MacBook Air onto my AppleTV but Remote can't find Apple TV on my iPhone 11 Pro.

I lost my Apple TV remote so I can't click it on whole my smart TV is turning on. And I am trying to pair Apple TV with my new iPhone 11 Pro by using the Remote app. But the app can't find the Apple TV. I can mirror my MacBook Air onto my TV but I'm not sure if the mirror is being picked up by the smart TV or the Apple TV box. The App TV light comes on but Idk if it is on or just in sleep mode. it is an early version Apple TV, maybe Series 2. How can I get the remote app, or my new iPhone to find and recognize the Apple T?

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 13

The older models (2nd and 3rd generation) will need a functional remote to set up the Apple TV Remote app on the iPhone.

Your options are:

You will need to install the Apple TV Remote app from the App Store, as the widget of the same name in Control Center is only compatible with the 4th generation or later.

Thank you all for your thoughts. Yes, of course, I’ve ordered a new remote. Mean time, I’m rather embarrassed to admit the best fix is often the easiest on: I unplugged the Apple TV and plugged it back in. Once booted I was quickly paired with my iPhone 11 Pro. And off to the races. I had succeeded in Air Dropping videos from my MacBook Air to my television via Apple TV (I think). As my television though relatively new is not a smart TV. Again, thanks very much for responding. I appreciate it very much.
