Water lock icon on Apple Watch 5

Hi there. My water lock icon is not remaining on the display during my swim work outs. Is it still on even if the water drop is not visible. I still need to twist the dial to unlock and eject the water at the end of the workout but I’m scared I may damage it, or that my water lock may be faulty. Can anyone help or advise? Thanks in advance.

You wont damage it by turning the waterlock off, turning it off ejects any water that may have got into the watch speaker.

When the waterlock turns off it vibrates and beeps so if it doesn't do this whilst you're swimming I would say that the lock is still on.
