Outlook acceptance of calendar invite not showing in calendar app, emailed ICS instead

I am experiencing an issue where I create an event in my calendar, invite a few people. Most of them use the Calendar app and accept the invite. One person receives the invite through Outlook (it doesn't show up through the Calendar app), and he accepts the invite through Outlook. Instead of it showing as accepted on my calendar app, I am receiving an email with an ICS attachment showing that he accepted the invite.

Additionally, I had him send me an invite from Outlook. It shows up as an email to me with an ICS attachment.

Is there something I or he can do to get this to work with the Calendar app correctly? I've searched everywhere but no one seems to even be having the same issue as me.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. I understand a recipient is unable to receive an invite to an event in the Calendar app. I'll be happy to help.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that there's only one recipient that is unable to receive your invites in the Calendar app. With that said, I recommend for that user to verify and ensure that the feature of "Calendar" is turned on for Microsoft Outlook in Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Outlook.

Also, have the user open the Calendar app > tap on "Calendars" on the bottom of the screen. Make sure Outlook is selected, so that any calendar events is properly displayed within the app: Set up multiple calendars on iPhone

In addition, please be sure that the device is updated to the latest iOS version. This helps provide software improvements and enhanced security updates that can help: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
