Using DVD UBS superdrive with MacBook Air/have a connector

I have an apple DVD superdrive, but it does not recognize the tripp-lite connection I am using to connect it with MacBook Air 2019 . Help!!!

For some reason when it's open, my Mac can detect this disc reader: But closed with or without a DVD in it, the drive or DVD does not show up in the Eject menu or in the Finder. LG doesn't have any drivers for macOS so I'm at a loss for what is going on here. The only thing different I'm doing with both computers is use a USB adapter.

Does the MacMini accept an external DVD player using a USB connection? I have the DVD Player app up and showing; and an external DVD plugged in (which the paperwork states is compatible with Mac). It it is connected with the USB cord. The power light shows green when I hit it and the DVD is in. But on DVD Player (the app on MacMini), it shows no way to select the USB port or the external DVD player. I selected On My Mac and I checked the other folders that show up. What am I missing? Or will this not ever work?

DVD hook up to MacBookPro I just purchased a Apple USB super drive to watch a home DVD movie. I also have a apple SATECHI connector that helps me to plug other things into my laptop. The DVD uses a USB connection which the SATECHI has. But the message I ge is "connect apple USB to a USB port on this Mac. also the USB accessory needs power. I have tried all the ports for the SATECHI connector but nothing changes with the message.

The possibility properly suited Dock also can be useful in connection with powered

use of MacBook, to enable an Apple USB SuperDrive; with examples of dock here:

This, an option in to connect peripheral USB devices with data & power-through USB ports.

You need either a direct connection using a USB-A female to USB-C male adapter or one of Apple's specific adapters.
