I fixed the issue by doing this:
I had changed the dpi settings to fix another issue (itunes store movie/ album covers were not showing)
Anyway, right click on the itunes shortcut, properties and go to compatibility.
If you press "change high dpi settings", at the very bottom there is an override option, leave that unchecked, and it will fix the problem.
I guess I can fix one problem at a time, can either watch movies properly or see album/ movie covers on the itunes store, but not all at the same time.
