Excel (xlsx) preview in Mail app - doesn't support custom MS Reporting Services formatting

Hello everyone,

the Excel preview of iOS Mail app doesn't display Excel (xlsx) files correctly, which have been exported via Microsoft Reporting Services.

Those Excel files seem to get a special formatting from Reporting Services.

e.g. "0.0 %" is "[$-en-CA, 1]0,0 %" in the exported xlsx file.

And this can't be read by the Excel preview. There is [$-en-CA, 1] in front of every format.

Mail app Excel preview:

0% is supposed to be 8.0 % (0.081xxx)

24,138.78 is supposed to be 24,139

When I open this file in Excel on WIndows you see this formatting:

Can this be fixed?

---------------

It's not a codepage issue. The Excel files look good in the Excel App.

The excel preview of iOS Mail App doesn't support the custom formatting that Microsoft Reporting Services adds to the exported Excel files.

I've uploaded an Excel file that was exported via MS Reporting Services.

Column C2 in Excel App: 7,63 €

Column C2 in iOS Mail App Excel preview: 7,632

Excel formatting: [$-de-DE,1]#,##0,00 €

The real trouble are percentages. 0,08 becomes 0%.. so in a business report you see 0%, -0% in all lines.

The bold part is something MS Reporting Services adds to the formatting and I've already asked for a way to disable this behaviour of MS Reporting Services in MS forums.

But still, it would be nice if the Excel preview of iOS Mail App could support these formats.

Our management uses iPhones.

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,

Anna
