Questions regarding Apple Settings search and Cydia.

Hello,

Im highly suspecting someone has jailbroken my device without my knowing. When I did a spotlight search for Cydia it came back with all the usual Cydia jargon but no app.

I then went into Settings and in the "search" box at the top I searched "Cydia" and came back with all these results.

Could anyone with a 100% non jailbroken device do the same and let me know if you receive similar options?

Or could anyone shed some light on why I'm getting these results without having the app?

Nobody is suggesting violation of terms - I simply stated that we are forbidden to discuss the matter. It certainly isn’t clear from your initial post that you are attempting to remove anything from your device.

If you are concerned that your device has previously been jailbroken, you can restore your device - which will effectively replace the installed OS and completely wipe the device. This will completely eradicate any illicit code from your device.

That really is all that we can do to assist. Sorry.

As for your concern that someone else had anything to do with jailbreaking your device: as far as I know, that is NOT possible without you giving them access to your device.

So, I agree that you should erase and reinstall (start from scratch); do not use a backup as that may contain the offending software as well. Proceed as if you were going to sell it:

The issue is I DONT WANT the Cydia on my iPad and im trying to rid of it, but wanted to know if others got the same listings from a search so I know if its gone from my device.

Im anti jailbreaking and don't want it, not promoting it in anyway, so I'd request you not to stop the post and perhaps next time take a proper read of the message and meaning behind it.

Also, yes people can help me, it just takes a simple search in the settings to see if other people get the same response. And im assuming by them accessing an iPad Air forum that they do have an iPad.

Im perfectly aware of the terms and conditions I signed up to when joining and wasn't violating any of them.

Lets just take a look back at the two messages.

"Im highly suspecting someone has jailbroken my device without my knowing. When I did a spotlight search for Cydia it came back with all the usual Cydia jargon but no app.

I would say that anyone who's had something done to their device without the owner knowing would suggest its something they don't want and is done in malicious terms.

"Any discussion at to jailbreaking - or tools to facilitate such - are not permitted within this Community. The terms that you signed-up to, when creating your account here, specifically forbid such activity.

Sorry, nobody here can help you with your question."

I would say by suggesting Im going against the terms I signed up for (your interpretation, not mine) would is breaking terms... which I wasn't.

As to suggest "no one can help" kb1951 showed a perfect example of being helpful.
