Alternatives to AirPod Charging Case?

I’m sure that I am not the only person who can’t make traditional AirPods fit in my ears without an after market silicone cover (I have tried many and settled on EarBuddyz). Stating the obvious, you can’t charge the AirPods in their case with these covers on. Any of the covers that will actually fit in the closed charging case won’t work for me. I decided to leave the covers on the AirPods and just keep them out of the case for a day or so, by the time I put them on this morning they were dead and I wound up using my EarPods.

With several generations of AirPods out there now, I can’t believe that Apple or anyone else hasn’t come up with a solution for the ear shape challenged.

I don’t trust any of the after market cases to not fry the AirPods, have them get stuck or otherwise damage them. There are a handful of aftermarket products out there with no cover so they would work, but the reviews are bad. I saw one picture of an actual cable with leads that connected to the the base of each AirPod but I can’t find any additional information on that, might have just been some clever photoshopping. Maybe there’s a way to confuse whatever sensor is on the case to make it think it’s completely closed but have it partially open, so that it would charge them regardless?

Again, how can I be the only one dealing with this issue? Is my only option to keep taking the covers off every time I want to charge these AirPods?

Come on Apple and Community, help me out here, thanks.

Hey thanks for the response. You know, I tried them out for a while in the Apple Store, walked around, hopped up and down, shook my head, felt fine. When I got them home and started walking/exercising in them, they started falling out. Not all of the time, but once is enough if you lose one or both. I really like them so I spent a LOT of time researching what I could do to make them fit better. It’s kind of a narrow short sighted view that I’m all alone with this issue, there are TONS of people out there with the exact same issue, as evidenced by the number of solutions out there. So while I appreciate the quick response, it wasn’t exactly helpful. Thanks anyway.

I agree on the two generations, my bad. I respectfully disagree with the notion that there is no market for a third party charger that allows the AirPods to charge without having to close a cover over them. Such a solution would allow for the use of third party silicone earbud covers and the like, for the multitude of earway challenged people such as myself that really want to make the AirPods work for them. It’s just a matter of time before Apple or third parties start to recognize that there IS a market for this and releasing solutions accordingly.

With those two generations, and the release of the AirPod Pros, it has been 3 years that they have been out and in that time no one has even hinted at making a 3rd party case. It is cheap to make adapters to fit over them, it is expensive to develop and make a device such as the case which will involve licensing. TONS does not equal a real number. I see at least 20 people per day using the AirPods, I see none that are using adapters. My estimate is you would need at least 20% of the customers using adapters to make a 3rd party case feasible. I don't think that many people are and if they were you would have already seen such a product. But good luck to you, maybe someone will.
