Is it normal that the apps in the default Other folder get moved out?

When I reset my mac (I have done it a few times), after a few days of use, some apps in the Other folder just move outside. I have to move the apps back into the folder. Is it normal that I have this? Is it a bug or is it my Mac?

Apps normally reside in a Mac's Applications folder.

Ok thanks for the clarification. I confess I don't understand Apple's reasoning for relegating certain apps to Other. Most of them are found within Applications/Utilities, yet TextEdit is there. So is Chess. Why? Why isn't Other named Utilities anyway? I have my suspicions but no one can say for sure.

Anyway you asked if it's a bug. The behavior may not make sense, but I doubt it's a bug.
