Using a Superscript in Mail Signatures

How do get the superscript to remain in my signature line in Apple Mail? If type I word and paste in my signature it turns it into a regular number. It remains as superscript on the iPad and in Outlook.

The "2" should be a superscript.

When you get to the point in your signature where you want to force a numeric superscript, press control+command+Spacebar to bring up the character viewer. In its search panel, just type in superscript, and this should provide you with those characters in the center panel. Double-click a superscript 2 and it will insert into your signature line at the current cursor position.

The superscript 2 will survive in your signature, and appear in the email body — as I have tested with Apple Mail on Mojave 10.14.6.
