Airpod Volume

When I take my airpods out of my ears and my music is still playing at full volume it’s very loud, unusually loud like a speaker. I compared it to my friends airpods and hers weren’t as loud as mine. She does have gen 1 airpods though but I don’t think that would make that much of a difference (I have gen 2). Anyways I did the suck technique to get the clogged gunk out of them and they are definitely louder in my ears now but still extremely loud when for everyone around me.
