I have the robot ringtone selected for some individuals but when for some reason, when they message me, the classic iPhone ringtone plays, not the Robot ringtone I have selected. I have an iPhone 8 and it is current on all updates. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a solution out there, other than choose a different ringtone???? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the post in Apple Support Communities. I understand the Robot tone doesn't seem to be playing as expected on your device, but others do.
You mentioned this is happening with contact-specific tones. If you test by setting a different tone for these contacts, how does it work? This would help to narrow things down to an issue with the Robot tone, or contact-specific tones.
As another test, try setting the Robot tone as your default tone under Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Text Tone. How does that work?

As you suggested: I changed one of my contacts text tone, from Robot to another tone. The new tone worked.
I then changed my default text tone to Robot and that worked as well.
I then went back and changed my contacts text tone back to Robot and it did not work.
Help this is helpful and you are able to provide me with a solution to this issue.

Oooops....I hit the "helpful' button on your post and thought if I clicked on the down arrow, it would 'this did NOT resolve my issue'....alas....it marked it as resolved :-( Please not this is NOT resolved!
One step ahead of you on that one LOL After trying your first suggestions, it dawned on me to delete the contact, recreate the contact and add Robot for the text tone and also shut down my phone and restart it. Sadly.....unsuccessful :-( It is such a strange and frustrating thing...sighhhhh If you have any other ideas, I am certainly open to giving them a go! Thanks! :D

Thanks for trying that. As another test, try deleting the contact in question and then re-create it with the same contact information, and set the contact-specific tone to Robot again. How does that work?
