Solution: Using Apple's Thunderbolt Display with a PC laptop running on Windows 10

I have both version of Apple displays (Cinema Display with MDP and Thunderbolt Display) and had it working with both my HP PC and my MBPro w/TouchBar.

It worked for me and I suggest you try the following:

  • Make sure you have the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter. Leave the Display unplugged from the PC.
  • Reboot your PC and enter the BIOS mode by holding F10 (Reboot + F10)
  • Select the ADVANCED tab
  • ...then chose PORTS OPTIONS
  • ..under THUNDERBOLT PCIe HOT PLUG MODE, set your PC to LEGACY MODE
  • Go back to the MAIN tab then click on SAVE CHANGES & EXIT

PC will reboot.

Plug in your ATB Display and wait a moment.

Let me know if this works for you.

Note: only do this if you are comfortable with this process, or get someone more into this type of tech support script to assist.

Thanks!
