I HATE the iPhone “memories” feature. How do I disable this intrusive piece of malware? Make it stop

How do I permanently disable this feature? I hate the thought of iPhone illegitimately aggregating my photos in a way that I gave it no permission to do. These are my photos and it is illegitimate for Apple to use use MY DATA in this way.

If you don’t like it get rid of your iPhone. And don’t get any other smartphones, either, and don’t upload photos anywhere such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Google Photos, Shutterfly or any other photo archiving services. Instead print them out and save the printed images. That is the only way to avoid auto-organizing features. It is a feature of all electronic photo management systems.

There is nothing illegitimate about any of these organizing your photos for you. You can ignore the folders that you don’t like.

Lawrence, I don't think ditching my iPhone is a useful solution, nor one that Apple would endorse. Per your suggestions, I do not upload photos anywhere including the sites you mention. Moreover, I am not decrying auto-organizing services -- that is a straw man to my legitimate complaint. All photo apps auto-organize photos by time and date and get no complaint from me. I suppose we disagree here, but I suggest that it is indeed illegitimate for my iPhone to interrupt my emails and telephone calls with distracting notices. And I am not the only one complaining, as a web search clearly reveals. My complaint, if taken seriously, will lead to beneficial changes to Apple's product, while your prescription will just fossilize a bad idea and cost Apple some market share. As a Level 9 member of this community, you have clearly helped others; so, your decision to opine rather than help me is intentional -- you are too qualified for me to render any other conclusion. Your strong reaction is no doubt rooted in your pathos and emotion. I don't mind that. My post is full of pathos too, and at the end of the day the secret ingredient in any successful product is love. One must care about the world in order to change it. The difference between us as regarding this issue is that I am seeking a real answer to a real question and you are uninterested in providing one. You shouldn't let your emotions interfere with the help you may be uniquely qualified to bring.
