Mac shut down and burning smell

Hello!

My MacBook Air randomly shut down this morning. It was plugged in, then all of a sudden it made a flicking noise then shut off completely. Then I smelt a burning smell. It has not been dropped or come into contact with any liquid recently. When I plug it in to charge it, it the light comes on indicating it’s charging. But no matter what I try or press, it will not come back on at all. Any suggestions? Or do I have to take it into a store at this point?
