many duplicate files made when I am using markup

Does anyone know why files would be self-replicating and naming themselves by appending (Conflict) (#) (#) to the replicated file name? This happens when I open a pdf via the FILES app and then edit with MARKUP. Seems to only happen when I open and markup a file that is resident in the ADOBE DOCUMENT CLOUD. Is this just another episode in the adobe-apple feud? or is there a way to avoid this problem? I really like the MARKUP app's tools.
