All you can do is take it in and see if they can do anything for you—

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"—

I went in for a scheduled Genius Bar appointment on Sunday to try and get my 2nd screen sorted. No Go. Apparently they will only repair them if your purchase date is within the last four years. I bought mine 4 years ago last august (2019) I had it done around 2 years in so my screen is only 2 years old....I told them this, along with the fact that it started again well over 6 months ago thus being within the 4 year period but still no. Wasted Journey and looking at £400 for the new screen.

The only positive I got from the appointment was that the “genius” said the condition of my screen wouldn’t affect trade in value. So if you’re considering paying for the repair, add that to the trade in value and you won’t be too far off a new basic 13” MacBook Pro. Considering many won’t want to buy it with the screen privately I might go down that road.
