how to control the screen size of the full or half screen when opening

how to change screen size . I get stuck on full size and cannot move it the usual way by touching the corner and moving it out of the full-size position. I have macOS Catalina.

I don't know when it started, but I can no longer go into complete full screen, there's a little dong and it will fill the majority of the screen, but it won't fill the entire screen (the dock is always visible). I tried finding the Finder prefs, to delete the com.apple.finder.plist as recommended by Macjack, but I couldn't find it anywhere. It doesn't seem to exist. Screen resolution In macOS Catalina version 10.15.4, MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019), my desktop seems lager the my screen. What I mean is I have to move my mouse to the edges in order to see more of the screen (about an inch top-bottom and left-right) . I have selected each of the scaled "resolutions" as well as the default for display, each haas the same issue. This is a real pain in the butt, the desktop needs to fit the screen, regardless of the resolution.

Press "control command F" or mouse up to the top of the screen and click the green grow button.
