How to disable start up feature when opening macbook air

How do you disable the auto start feature on MacBook Air? I prefer to start it with the start button rather than opening the lid.

you can use the Terminal command line to enter the following command:

sudo  nvram  AutoBoot=%00


To re-enable the feature:

sudo  nvram  AutoBoot=%03
