How do I stop the screensaver from advancing my screensaver photos so I can look at a pic without ending the screensaver and putting my desktop on the screen?

I don't think you can freeze the screensaver. Sorry. The idea behind the screensaver is to appear when you're not using the Mac so as soon as you start using it again, the screensaver disappears.
