itunes does not show my iphone icon when i plug in.

I have a macbook pro (2 years old) that has the latest software. When I go to plug in my iphone 7s, itunes does not display my iphone icon as it did before on the left side of screen. Very frustrating. So, I cannot update my playlists, etc.

Any advice?
