ZOOM H4n audio clicking in Logic

Hello - I have some mono field recordings that sound perfect when monitoring them on the ZOOM H4n that they were recorded on. Once the tracks are loaded into Logic they have little clicks throughout the recording. Recording WAV files at 44.1 16 bit on the ZOOM, loading these into Logic and they have clicks in the interleaved stereo. After converting to mono (to isolate the inputs) they still have clicks. The clicks are similar to those you'd hear when synchronization is incorrect. However, Logic 10 is set at exactly the same specs as ZOOM. Any ideas?

Problem solved thanks to a member of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada. What worked was to trash all the audio files in logic, switch to 48K then reload audio - Logic converts it to 48K and voila - no more clicking audio. Strange fix but it worked!

Ed Henderson again

Using the finder with, selecting GET INFO, I checked the source files - they are clean with no clicking, the files stored in the logic folder - and they are clean with no clicking. It's only in logic, on the arrange page, that these files seem corrupted. In the project settings I deselected "Convert audio sample when importing", deleted all the files in Logic and reimported the files from the source. Same clicking problem. Any ideas?

Thanks EricSimon - good suggestions I had not thought of. I tried that, raising the buffer and processing threads as high as my MacBook Pro would take them (1024 and 4) deleted the tracks then reloaded the audio and I still have clicks happening. I double checked the source again and the audio is clean...hmmm - any other suggestions greatly appreciated

Hello again. I posted this issue to my friends on the Screen Composers Guild of Canada discuss list and had some other suggestions: so, I loaded one of the files into Garage band and there are still clicks happening. Tried The Amazing Slow Downer and Audacity and there are NO clicks in either of these apps.

The ZOOM was set to 44.1 as is Logic, Garage Band, Audacity and ASD - weirdness - any other thoughts or suggestions? Get an UA audio apollo twin? Apogee? I’ve used the Zoom so often with previous generations of Mac OS and earlier versions of Logic - should work here too!

What is your audio buffer setting? If you are only going to process them (if you are not going to record anything besides it) then set the I/O buffer to 1024 - if you are going to record audio or MIDI, set the I/O buffer to 128 or 256. Also, set the number of processing threads to the highest available. If you have hyperthreading (virtual cores, most modern i3, i5, i7 and i9 processors do have these), set the number to the number of real cores (half of the highest number).
