So I made the bootable macOS USB for catalina, and restart my computer while holding the option button. Select download macOS catalina. The mac starts to startup but suddenly turns to a black screen. Is there any way to fix this?

Your Mac may be having hardware issues, then. Try running the Diagnostics.
Also try the Catalina installer on a different supported-with-Catalina Mac, too. See if it boots.
Which Mac are you attempting to boot? Model and year?
Is the Mac supported by Catalina?
Try building a bootable installer again, with a different flash drive?
Idk about the model but it is a mac from 2012 and I believe it is supported by Catalina. I know this because it was able to run on it before my mac decided to not startup anymore.
