trying to restore an iphone8 or erase to original settings without passcode

My daughter forgot her passcode months ago, and we are trying now to restore her iphone 8. I am on an old desktop 10.11.6 OS X El Capitan. It goes all the way through to the Apple icon, and then it tells me there is an error 10 and cant be restored. Is it because computer is so old? Can I take it into apple?

Restore iPhone 11 Hi there. My great aunt got a new iPhone. She’s old, and had no idea how to use it. She doesn’t even know it’s phone number nor the passcode she made to get in. So, I was going to reset the whole thing for her. I don’t know the passcode either so therefore I can’t get in. But, when I try to do a restore on my MacBook, it fails every time with an error message that says it failed due to a corruption during the download? I have no idea. Any help?

forgot passcode my iPhoneX can't restored and update with my MacBook Pro. i followed step by step but it was say The iPhone could not be restore an unknown error occurred 10. i don't know what that mean.

Take a look at this for help with error code 10.

Your Mac and OS shouldn’t be too old. I sync all of my iOS devices running iOS 13.3.1 with a late 2011 MBP running El Capitan.

If you get totally stuck, yes Apple can help if you make an appointment at an Apple Store.

I manage my 5 iGadgets on an ancient 2015 MBP with 10.11.6 El Cap., so the issue is elsewhere.
