Ripping CD using Apple Music under OS Catalina

I've tried to rip my CD to my iMac Pro (2017) using the Music app.

When inserting my CD I expected to be able to select "Create Apple Lossless Version" under menu point "Convert" under Music File menu. But it wasn't active and Music started to rip/copy my CD to my iMac without giving me a chance to select anything. What did I do wrong ???

GSF - The "Convert" function is only for existing audio files and has nothing to do with CD ripping.

Do the following:

  • Go to Music > Preferences > Files. Click "Import Settings" and choose the settings you want: "Import Using" "Apple Lossless Encoder." Then OK out of there.
  • Now rip the CD the usual way.
