I cannot check on dark reader extension in Safari

Just paid 5$ for a function that should of been baked into the OS years ago because I finally got sick of getting blasted in the eyes by safari. Well, the simple process of checking ON the box for the extension does NOTHING. I hit my 1password extension and it turned off but now will also NOT check on. I have tried entering my password in preferences, system settings, looking in the extension tab and privacy&security tab. I have restarted my computer multiple times including in safe mode to no avail. I have tried deleting the keychain extension list; this also did not work. I can find no more troubleshooting info on the web and so my frustration only grows. I have had this mbp for about 7 years and never even need to create an account to post here so I am really at a loss and don't know what to do to fix it. Any help to resolve this ridiculous issue will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Quit Safari and restart the Mac. Try.

Can you enable it in Safe Mode?

Dark mode comes as a built-in feature in macOS 10.15

Hey Dominic,

Thanks, I did try, then try again, and it did work in safe mode. It still doesn't work in regular mode but idc as I bake them in. And yes I love the dark mode I've been awaiting, but since it doesn't flip safari I got dark reader (2nd extension). I have etrecheck bookmarked for future case. Appreciate the help so much 🙏. I am in deep nocturnal studies - and you have resolved the workflow! 🥳 Not sure exactly where the bug is but it is functional and will probs get ironed out soon. Thanks again & cheers!
