The character viewer panel has nice square check boxes both empty and filled, which can be inserted with a double-click. Search for the word ballot, since these are known as ballot box ☐, ballot box with X ☒, and ballot box with check ☑︎. Conceivably, you could set these up as text replacements with the arbitrary names of bbe (empty), bbx, or bbck respectively.

Hi David,
To my understanding, no version of Pages in the current series (versions 5 through 8) supports check boxes.
If you are making a document that will be printed, and want (inactive) checkboxes on the printed page, see my post (and Viking OS X's post) in this discussion: Creating check boxes in pages - Apple Community

Barry
One can insert a [un]checked text box object using Pages built-in equation editor too. These can be copy/pasted elsewhere in the Pages document. From Pages Insert menu : Equations…
\color{Gray}\square
Because a selected equation object is subject to Pages font size controls. And in the following, the use of repeated \! operators walks the checkmark left into a centered \square position.
\color{Gray}\square\!\!\!\!\color{blue}\checkmark
Thanks for the reply. I just used capital O,s as my tick boxes.
Hi David,
That works, too!

Barry
