Game changes resolution for whole computer after airplaying
i have a 2016 macbook pro. i play sims 4 and i used to be able to play the game in 1440x900 resolution while being able to keep my computer's resolution the default resolution. however, a few days ago I mirrored my computer to my tv to watch a movie and played sims on it for a couple minutes. ever since then, whenever i launch the game, it sets my whole computer's resolution to 1440x900 instead of just the game. everything is noticeably bad quality and it only bothers me cuz I switch between the game and my desktop a lot while playing. I've tried so many things to fix it like resetting to default settings in the game, deleting the options file that contains the settings to generate a new one, repairing the game, resetting the SMC and PRAM, selecting the "open in low resolution" option for the sims application, i tried setting the game to launch in windowed and fullscreen mode from the options file or the command line in origin, the only thing I haven't tried that i'm considering is reinstalling the game but that would take a lot of effort to move around the game files to get my progress back when it's reinstalled, and if it doesn't work i'll be really annoyed to go through all that effort for nothing haha. I've tried getting advice from the sims forums and others but most of the stuff they recommended was on my mac's end so i thought i'd post here.
when i have the game running and i change my computer's resolution back to default, it puts the game in windowed mode, and then when i set the game back to fullscreen it changes the resolution on my computer again. I need to play the game in lower resolution to be able to run the game well since my computer isn't very powerful.
