I understand, thanks for clarifying about the music/radio type. Is the iOS software up-to-date on your iPhone? Here's how to update the iOS software if it is not on the newest version: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Then, I'd recommend going to the App Store, and check to see if you have any app updates available. If so, do all available app updates, especially if one of those updates is for the Google Maps app.
Also, does the issue happen as well when you use the built-in Maps app of the iPhone? If the issue is only happening within the Google Maps, you may want to reach out to the Google Maps Help directly.
