Why does Apple CarPlay cut out my radio when using Google Maps connected through USB in my car. It used to navigate over the radio but cuts it out completely now.

I understand, thanks for clarifying about the music/radio type. Is the iOS software up-to-date on your iPhone? Here's how to update the iOS software if it is not on the newest version: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Then, I'd recommend going to the App Store, and check to see if you have any app updates available. If so, do all available app updates, especially if one of those updates is for the Google Maps app.
Also, does the issue happen as well when you use the built-in Maps app of the iPhone? If the issue is only happening within the Google Maps, you may want to reach out to the Google Maps Help directly.

Thank you for your response but I don’t think you understand me. I listen to the DAB radio on my infotainment system in my car just fine but when I use Google maps and I’m given direction it cuts out the radio completely where as before it talked over the radio. This is when I connect via usb.
