They only have the SAME resolution when you mirror displays. Those cards can support up to six different displays.
For high resolution displays, get away from HDMI entirely -- it is a "legacy" interface invented for HD TV sets, and often requires black magic to make it work at higher resolutions. Use DisplayPort family derived from Thunderbolt-3 with a simple adapter such as these:

Apple / System Preferences / Displays
Look for "Arrangment" ........ Display Arrangement Color
there is a checkbox "Mirror Displays"
uncheck it
